Ultrasound markers for pregnancy complications are most useful, therefore we are assessing their efficacy so as to be able to use use them as widely as possible / routinely. Also, we wish to disseminate the knowledge and experiece gained through the progress of the project to the physicians involved in perinatal care. This reason had led us to organize a 4-day “School of Ultrasound Diagnosis” at which some internationally recognized experts (Prof Kypros Nicolaides, Prof Karim Kalache, Dr Roza Bataeva) and our research team members gave lectures. The School was attended by 120 physicians.

COBISS.SI-ID: 24987353The aim of this diploma work was to find whether preeclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction can be predicted on the basis of concentrations of placental growth factor (PlGF). We have found that PlGF cannot be used as a biochemical marker for early prediction of abnormal trophoblast invasion. We did find a correlation between the body mass index over 25 and complications in later pregnancy. To find biochemical markers appropriate in prediction of abnormal trophoblast invasion further studies are required on a larger group of women and involving more markers at the same time.
