In 5 patients with S1 herniated disc a piezoresistive prototype of nerve root retractror was tested in clinical settings. H wave and SRP (spinal nerve potentials) were used for monitoring of conduction capability of the root during manipulation. Low correlation between SRP positivity and retractor pressure was found (r=0,3). However, high negative correlation was found between outcome (pain, sensitivity and motor function) and average pressure on retractor ( r=0,95).
