The patents' objective is a polyester, preferentially poliethylene(terephtalate) biomaterial, treated in the way, which enables coating with two layers. The first layer consists from chitosan and serves as a basic layer for the second layer. Second layer is made from sulphonated polysaccharide, which has anticoagulative properties, preferentially fucoidan.
F.07 Improvements to an existing product
COBISS.SI-ID: 11320854Different biopolymers of polysaccharide origin with special bioactive properties were used in order to achieve better surface biocompatibility of the PET material. The adsorption of Chitosan, chitosan derivative (chitosan 6-O-sulfate) and sulphated polysaccharide fucoidan onto the activated PET surface under different conditions was monitored using QCM. The results of in-vitro measurements showed that PET surface modification using sulphated polysaccharides significantly improve its biocompatibility.
