The aim of project was complex interpretation of Ljubljansko polje and Ljubljansko barje aquifers chemical status on the basis of the local groundwater monitoring data. The hydrochemical data were merged and uniform time series of concentrations of individual relevant pollutants in the area of Ljubljansko polje and Ljubljansko barje aquifers were obtained. Typical values for every relevant chemical parameter were elaborated. It was possible to identify the most problematic groundwater pollutants and to delineate the most contaminated areas or sites within both aquifers.
D.06 Final report on a foreign/international project
COBISS.SI-ID: 1887829In the scope of European Water Framework Directive implementation, a proposal of Slovenian Water Management Plan was elaborated. Water Management Plan includes the water chemical and quantitative status estimation of Slovenian water bodies and also a definition of water protection measures, which would invert negative chemical and quantitative trends. In the process of preparation of Slovenian Water Management Plan, Geological Survey of Slovenia was responsible for the groundwater problematics.
F.23 Development of new system-wide, normative and programme solutions, and methods
COBISS.SI-ID: 1663573The existing groundwater quality monitoring network of the Ljubljana Municipality was analyzed within the scope of the project. The main shortcomings of the existing network were found to be an uneven distribution of sampling points and the duplication of observations with the national groundwater quality network. Therefore a proposal of the monitoring network improvement was elaborated, comprising a total of 16 observation points, out of which 9 are new.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1561941In 2006-2007 additional geological and hydrogeological investigations were carried out in the wider area of the Klariči pumping station with the aim to extract additional groundwater quantities. In the summer period of 2008 a big pumping experiment was made with the aim to define in detail the capacity of the Brestovica aquifer. The pumping test proved that over 500 l/s of quality drinking water can be pumped from the Klariči-Brestovica water resource. Beside for the karst area, this quantity will be sufficient also for additional water supply requirements on the Slovenian coast.
F.17 Transfer of existing technologies, know-how, methods and procedures into practice
COBISS.SI-ID: 1884245Pharmaceuticals in groundwater can be regarded as artificial tracers that enable the evaluation of general anthropogenic influence on the environment and identification of the most vulnerable areas of aquifers. The article presents the properties of distribution of caffeine, carbamazepine and propyphenazone in the area of Ljubljansko polje and Ljubljansko barje. Ljubljansko polje and Barje are important drinking water resources. These pollutants are indicators of sewage system efficiency, however,in urban areas without sewage they indicate the aquifer’s ability of natural attenuation.
