The central focus are the processes of relocation of care practices within family life (as) between genders and within private and public spheres, with a strong emphasis on childcare and domestic work. Trends of the relocation of care and care work between women and men are more significant on the level of values, beliefs and social expectations; changes are more significant in the emotional aspect of parenting. The relocation of care and care work is most intense between women in the context of grandparenting and commodification of domestic and care work.

Despite changes in the last few decades, such as in the field of education, employment and policies with mechanisms based on gender equality, distribution of household work and care work between partners remain gendered and in asymmetrical pattern.
