The chapter tries to show, using a singular case of Yugoslavian reporting of the crisis in Czechoslovakia in `68, how the critique of the occupation opened up the space to think together both the historical possibility and the political invention, with special attention given to specific Yugoslavian political, social and ideological circumstances. The discursive strategies this critique applied are analyzed, and compared to the English reporting of the same events as well as the Pravda`s view of the same events within the Yugoslavian newspapers.

This chapter is a detailed analysis of the refugee crisis from the times of disintegration of Yugoslavia (1991-1993), and its representation in the media. This first refugee crisis is then compared to the second crisis at the turn of the millennium (refugees from Asia and Africa). The analysis and comparison of the two crises reveals fundamental shifts in media representation of "us" and "them".

The article analyzes the recent structural changes in social status and function of European journalism in relation to other areas of “linguistic production”. With the help of methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis, we present some of the basic notions of Europe. With pragmatic analysis of selected examples we demonstrate, if and how some notions of “Europe” in the primary school textbooks run parallel with, or lean against the everyday, stereotypic, ideological notion that origins in the various political ideologies from the second half of 20th century.
