The paper focuses on the promotion of the Slovene language in Italy. The paper draws from the theory of human capital and by combining concepts from social marketing and sociolinguistics, identifies three paths to promote minority languages and tries to apply them to the case of the Slovene linguistic minority in Italy. Increasing the number of speakers and improving the linguistic skills in the minority language represents the first path. The second path deals with the promotion of language use, while the third path deals with language status in the environment where the minority lives.
