The book we edited and supplied with index of names was written under the patronage of and financed by the Slovene National Commission for UNESCO. It is the work result of a research group brought together under the label "Abakan Action"; our project actively participates in its activities, striving for the study and promotion of linguistic and cultural diversity. The authors of the articles are: Donall O Riagain, Tamara Borgoyakova, Teresa L. McCarty, Bill Bowring, Terrence G. Wiley, Gerda de Klerk, Perry Gilmore, as well as project cooperators Sonja Novak Lukanovič and Marija Jurić Pahor.

COBISS.SI-ID: 249521920This paper aims at the two core questions: first, it deals with the problem of longitudinal demographic analysis of the former macro-region being dissolved into four nation-states; and second, it compares national statistics in a field of recent changes in demographical structure. Here, the cases of Slovenia (especially Primorska), Croatia (especially Istria and Kvarner), Friuli – Venezia Giulia, and Carinthia are considered through the population structure affected by new phenomena of accelerated migration mobility, lowering fertility, and longer life expectancy.

It presents the key historical-geographical ruptures in forming of the border and in discrepancies between the political and other delimitations in a field. The author evaluates some possibilities of solving actual conflict situation along the border. The emphasis is set on recent geo-political development in Istrian-Adriatic section of the border and their impacts on creation and transformation of local and regional ethnic belongings.

COBISS.SI-ID: 11351629At the international expert conference, attended by more than 50 lecturers from around the world, the (invited) contributor confronted the concept of political memory which she highlighted, against the background of European development, using the case of Italy and Slovenia. Special attention was dedicated to the process of shaping and re-shaping of political memory after 1989, with special regard for the period of fascism, as well as for "foibe and exodus", which had affected particularly Slovenia and the ethnically mixed territories in Primorska/Littoral, Istria, Rijeka and Dalmatia.

In this connection it also deals with the question of how it is possible to theoretically and methodologically approach the phenomenon of “hybridity”, which includes a subject's positions of in-between, border character, as well as of fluid and multiphrene identities.
