In this scientific article the author for the first time describes the settling of the noble family of Attems in Styria, based on preserved archival sources. The founder of the family was Ignac M. count Attems, who was born in Ljubljana. Until now Slovene historiography has not paid a lot of attention to his biography. His descendants in 18th and 19th century as lead politicians shaped the appearance of the above mentioned land in many ways.
