This monograph marks a breakthrough for Slovenian folkloristics in the international scholarly community. The publisher was particularly convinced by the interdisciplinary methodology of the subject, i.e. literary folklore as a syncretic phenomenon. The book presents the phenomenology of literary folklore and its levels (text, texture, context), and the relationship between the bearers of tradition (re-creators, performers) and its recipients.

A range of basic concepts related to the culinary heritage of the Slovenians and its role in the development of the catering and tourist industry are explained. It deals with the inclusion of ethnology, the knowledge of national dishes, and the culinary heritage in the education of future catering and tourist workers. These people are indeed aware that they lack such knowledge when faced with the interest of tourists in the local cuisine. The article describes shortcomings as well as successful cases of the incorporation of the culinary heritage into tourist assets in Slovenia and abroad.
