In his invited lecture in European Parliament, Dr. Likar cites the research results which show that investment in innovation is related to economic results both in enterprises and at the state level. According to the Summary Innovation Index, the EU however is not at the very top; also unfortunately Slovenia is below average. The basic guideline for the improvement of the current state must be a holistic approach where the levers of development in economy, education and research areas can be brought together in connection with an innovation culture, thoughtfully and flexibly.

In this respect some countries make better use of these investments than others, e.g. Switzerland. Slovenia unfortunately is below EU average. The basic guideline must be a holistic approach where the levers of development can be brought together thoughtfully and flexibly.
