In Ph.D thesis Špela Konjar investigated teh role of cysteine proteinases in processing activation and inactivation of perforin. It was shown that cathepsin L is an importannt, but not only proteinase involved in this process. She also participated in the study of the role of cysteine proteines inhibitors in the nucelus. The results of Ph.D thesis were published in 3 articels, the fourth is submitted to Immunology and Cell biology.

COBISS.SI-ID: 251617280Pi has presented the role of stefin B and cystatin F in activated macrophages. After stimulation with LPS stefin B was found co localised with LC3 protein in autophagosomes. Overexperssion of cystatin F mutant in the endosomes influenced the cleavage of TLR9.

COBISS.SI-ID: 23121959In Ph.D thesis Slavko Čeru investigated the formation of stefin B aggregates in vitro and in living cells. Slavko also participated in the studies about the role of stefin B in cell nucleus. The supervisor of Ph.D thesis was Eva Žerovnik, co-suprevisor Vito Turk and Nataša Kopitar-Jerala was working mentor. The results of Ph.D theis were published in 7 articels.

COBISS.SI-ID: 240588544PI has presented recent discoveries about the role of cysteine proteianse inhibitors in the nucelus, as well as in the endosomes and cytosol.

COBISS.SI-ID: 24291111We have identified an interaction between stefin B and the histones. Increased expression of stefin B in the nucleus influenced processing of CUX1 transcription factor, and as a consequence of diminished cleavage of CUX1, delayed cell cycle progression was determined. Interaction of stefin B with the truncated form of cathepsin L in the nucleus was confirmed by FRET experiments in the living cells.
