Zvišanje znotrajcelične koncentracije kalcijevih ionov ([Ca2+]i) v astrocitih sproži sproščanje gliotransmiterjev iz mešičkov, verjetno prek vpliva na transport mešičkov. Pokazali smo, da zvišanje ([Ca2+]i) zviša hitrost reciklirajočih VGLUT1 (vesicular glutamate transporter 1) mešičkov in zniža hitrost reciklirajočih ANP (atrial natriuretic peptide) mešičkov. Razgradnja citoskeleta je povzročila znižanje hitrosti obeh tipov mešičkov. Naši rezultati pomembno prispevajo k razumevanju regulacije transporta mešičkov v astrocitih.

We found that glutamate triggers vesicular ATP release from astrocytes and that ATP is found also in peptide vesicles. We described that peptide and glutamate vesicle traffic is cytoskeleton dependent and differently regulated by calcium ions.
