Neurotrophin-3 (NT-3), displays profound neuromodulatory functions in the normal and in the diseased brain. Under physiological conditions, NT-3 is produced by neuronal cells and also by local glial cells. We focused our investigation on the ability of astrocytes to synthesize NT-3 and, additionally, on the active involvement of the neurotransmitters noradrenaline, adrenaline, dopamine, histamine and serotonin (5-HT) in the regulation of NT-3 production in neonatal rat cortical astrocytes.

COBISS.SI-ID: 26552537EDHF-mediated vasomotor response of the coronary artery is altered by hypoxia–reoxygenation (H–R) induced damage. This paper evaluates normothermic and hypothermic models which are suitable for future drug studies of vasoprotective action against H–R injury.
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
COBISS.SI-ID: 24825561In research procedures animals must be anesthetised and analgised to prevent induction of pain. Used drugs must not interfere with experimental results or influence the outcome of studied drugs. To achieve relevant data from animal experiments, appropriate drugs must be selected for each specific experiments, where the effects of new drugs are studied. On the other hand, animals must be prevented against the induction of pain.

COBISS.SI-ID: 26989017In studying of deleterious effects and mechanisms of long-term exposure to organophoshpates on humans, animals and environment and planning an appropriate measures against intoxications for the purpose of development of a new detector for analysis of insecticides, organophosphates we studied the influence of these substances on cardiovascular system and endothelial function.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3112826Statins are those drugs that are used, due to their numerous synergistic beneficial effects in patients with increased cholesterol, and exert several beneficial effects in patients with atherosclerosis, with high blood pressure and in some chronic systemic diseases. Because of potential new indications, due to their newly discovered beneficial effects, this knowledge is important for improvement of therapies.
