"Block on cylinder" wear testing equipment aimed for wear testing of soft, heated metal in contact with solid counterbody was presented in the contribution. At such tribological pair wear progress of hard counterbody is considerable slower in comparison to tribological pair of two hard bodies. Thus test enables longlasting maintenance of contact pressures on correspond level durring the testing and thus also gaining of reliable data about wear progress of hard counterbody. This test posses beter characteristics in comparison to tests cited in literature.

COBISS.SI-ID: 919135Detailer degradation progresses of various nitrided microstructures in laboratory simulation of tribological conditions in aluminium hot extrusion were obtained. Gas nitrided blocks made of die steel were tested on wear and times of occurrence of typical degradation mode were detected. Very similar degradation progress of compound as well as of diffusion layer so in laboratory testing as well as on industrial die was observed. So far chemical attack was considered as main wear mechanismus but results obtained in our investigation indicate that cracking and adhesion are dominant.
