The expertise, acquired during development of novel medical image registration techniques, was transfered to industry and used to improve the performances of the machine for automatic visual inspection and sorting of pharmaceutical tablets and capsules. Detection and classification of defects on pharmaceutical products is, among others, also based on image registration - the registration of the image of a product epected and the model, derived from defect-free products.

COBISS.SI-ID: 7765332The registration of pre- and intra-interventional images is the key enabling technology of image-guided interventions. The registration methods, that the group developed, particularly the one cited here, allow development of novel minimally invasive procedures with better navigation. Encouraged by the results of this project, we have approached the interventional radiologists at the Neurology Clinic of the University Medical Centre with the aim to join efforts and try to improve complex navigation in 3D during endovascular procedures.
