Characterisation of NEG St122 sorption properties has been ordered by PerkinElmer Optoelectronics, Wiesbaden, Germany in the frame of long-term cooperation contract with IMT. The NEG samples were selected from the production of channel photomultipliers and analysed by improved standard method, which was introduced at IMT beginning of 2006. Namely, when using a quadrupole mass spectrometer in dynamic mode to analyse the background atmosphere after completing the hydrogen sorption test, several samples showed increased methane formation and in some cases non-negligible argon emission as well.

COBISS.SI-ID: 718762Characterisation of indium eutectic solders InSn and InBi has been ordered by PerkinElmer Optoelectronics, Wiesbaden, Germany in the frame of long-term cooperation contract with IMT. In solder samples were selected from the production of channel photomultipliers. The main part of characterisation consists of outgassing measurement of liquid In-alloy solders during mechanical stirring in ultrahigh vacuum. Quantity of released gases is measured using an inert spinning rotor gauge in static mode, but their absolute composition using a calibrated quadrupole mass spectrometer in dynamic mode.

COBISS.SI-ID: 722346The main characteristics of the improved static gas-sorption method are constant gas flow and variable pressure above the getter surface. An inert SRG is used for adjusting and in situ calibrating gas flow by the rate of pressure rise method as well as for measuring pressure above the getter surface. During the sorption test non-getterable gases (noble gases and CH4) may accumulate in the test chamber. Few interruptions of the test gas flow enable measuring the change in background pressure. At the end of test, the analysis of gas composition by the gas-burst method using RGA is performed.

COBISS.SI-ID: 792234Determination of gas quantity is based on the measurement of total pressure of gases released during the stirring of In-Sn solder in a test chamber attached to an accumulation chamber with a known volume, using an inert SRG. Determination of gas composition is based on the observation of ´pressure-bursts´ belonging to the accumulated gases after their admission into an analytic chamber equipped with an in situ calibrated QMS and a dry TMP unit. Results of the outgassing test of two In-Sn washers with a mass of ~ 0.5 g are selected to show the measurement performance of the new method.

COBISS.SI-ID: 853674Apparatus for determining pumping speed (object of invention) consists of a subassembly for the generation of gas throughput and a test chamber for measuring equilibrium pressure of a pump under test. The novelty is that the test chamber with a vacuum gauge is used as a calibration volume for the in situ calibration of gas throughput by means of the accumulation method, which replaces the standardized orifice method.
