The goal of the therapeutic drug monitoring in the management of epilepsy is to control seizures with the assistance of measured antiepileptic drug concentration. Beside estimation of patients’ individual therapeutic concentration therapeutic drug monitoring can serve also for individual patients' pharmacokinetic parameters estimation by the help of the population pharmacokinetics. The work presents the development of carbamazepine, valproic acid and topiramate population pharmacokinetic models which enable optimization of dosage regimen in routine care of individual patients.

COBISS.SI-ID: 5033247Doctoral thesis brings contributions on the following areas: A comparative analysis of the uptake of new oncology drugs in Slovenia and selected European countries was performed. Clinical and economic outcomes evaluation of new technologies that have recently emerged in cancer therapy, specifically HPV vaccination to prevent cervical cancer and UGT1A1 genotyping to prevent severe neutropenia occurence during colorectal cancer therapy with irinotecan, was carried out. The issue how the general population in Slovenia values survival prolongation was explored.
