Based on analyses of the PSInSAR data mass movements in the Julian Alps were assessed. 57 images from satellites ERS 1 and ERS 2 were used from the period 04/1992-12/2000. 16,304 permanent scatters were detected and for 10 % time series of displacements were analysed. The results show a constant uplift of the Southern Alps, which is of a higher magnitude than considered until now, in some cases even five times higher. Relative uplift ranges up to 3.35 mm per year and is is related to active tectonics.
