The study represents vibration sensitive interneurons within the central nevrous system of cave criockets which have not developed hearing organs, and compares them with with interneurons of the homologous hearing system of crickets and bushcrickets. The results of the investigation represent an important step forward to understanding of phylogenetic relations as well as to development of hearing in the mentioned insect group.

The review article summarizes most recent data on insect song adaptations to mechanical properties of the substrate as information transmission medium. The article represents an overview on frequency characteristics of stink bug vibratory emissions, functional properties of the relevant mechanoreceptors and underlying neuronal networks, and on resonant properties of green host plants and represents the scietific basis for studying of communication.
