Based on results of measurements of the unattached and attached fractions of radon decay products in the Postojna Cave in different yearly seasons, both when visitors were present and not, dose conversion factors have been calculated. They exceeded the values recommended by the International Commission of Radiological Protection for workplaces for a factor of 11.5–14.0 in summer and 3.0–4.0 in winter. es

The study of nano size unattached fraction of radon decay products and comparison of values obtained in different working environments has shown its dependence on meteorological parameters, ventilation and working regimes. The publication stimulate discussion on the disagreement between the effective doses obtained on the basis of epidemiological studies and those on calculated applying the dosimetric approach.
