We have organized already 12th in a row Interantional Symosium in the field of proteases, which attracted most of the world leading researchers from the field (Japan, USA, Canada, Europe, Australia). One of the most respected symposia in the field of proteases in general.

COBISS.SI-ID: 240492288C.04; C.03. Executive Editor of Biol. Chem. (JCR IF 2007: 2.84) since July 2008; To be a member of the Editorial Board of a well-known international journal is an honour for the recognition of important scientific contribution in the field. As such it is important for the recognition of Slovenia on the world's map of science. As an Executive Editor of Biol Chem I am responsible for the critical evaluation of the papers from the fields of proteolysis and apoptosis and making final decisions about manuscripts. COBISS.SI-ID: 1541908To present research results at one of the Gordon Conferences is real recognition for the scientist. Here an overview of the role of cysteine cathepsins in cell death was given with a major emphasis on the critical role of mitochondria in the pathway.
B.04 Guest lecture
COBISS.SI-ID: 22528039An overview of protease signaling pathway in apoptosis was given with the emphasis on protease substrate identification. The results demonstrating that BCl-2 homologs are critical cysteine cathepsin substrates in apoptosis mediated by lysosomotropic detergents were also presented.
B.04 Guest lecture
COBISS.SI-ID: 23206695In this thesis a detailed description of the mechanism of apoptosis triggered by TNF-alpha and the role of lysosomal cathepsins are given, as well as the description of their role in apoptosis, induced by the lysosomotropic detergent LeuLeuOMe.
