The project leader was invited by the organiser “Die Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB)” to give lecture on basic physics, known laws, research methods, prediction methods and open problems of cavitation erosion at an international conference “3rd workshop Kavitation in Technik und Medicin”.

COBISS.SI-ID: 11009819For companies ANDINO Hydropower Engineering d.o.o. and GUGLER Water Turbines GmBH we developed and evaluated water turbines and analized flow and cavitation conditions in the flow tract. We used CFD code Fluent for this purpose. Analysis included evaluation of the flow conditions in spiral casing, in the vicinity of the guide vanes, in the runner and in the draft tube. Losses in the segments of the flow tract and the efficiency of the turbines were also predicted. Power plants with our turbine design are being installed in Italy, Mexico and Bulgaria.
F.06 Development of a new product
COBISS.SI-ID: 10329883An invention of a hollow blade of axial turbine machine with combined external and internal flow filed enables stabilization of the flow conditions near the blade trailing edge. Secondary flow enters the internal channel of the blade near the hub of the rotor and exits at the trailing edge of the blade. This leads to the preservation of the flow direction that is given by the blade shape what leads to maximal local energy transfer and increase of working efficiency of the turbine machine. The transfer form the prototype axial fan blade to serial production is underway in Hidria company.
