At the Department of Neurology we have established the Centre for cognitive neuroloy and have developed liquor diagnostics for Alzhemier's disease (tau, phosphotau and beta-amyloid).

COBISS.SI-ID: 253259520A new interdisciplinary postgrdauate Master Studies programme of Cognitive Science has been introduced at the Univeristy of Ljubljana in 2009. Z. Pirtošek is a member of the programme council of the studies and teaches Cognitive neuroscience on it. Four different faculties from University in Ljubljana are executing the studies. The title - Master of Cognitive Sciences would be issued not only in the name of Univeristy of Ljubljana, but also in the name of Univerity of Zagreb, Technical Univesity in Budapest and Komenski University in Bratislava.

The objective of the first school was Parkinsonism and dementias. It is organized by professionals working at the Department of Neurology Ljubljana. Different profiles of medical professionals participated: family physicians, neurology residents and students.

COBISS.SI-ID: 253259520The pathological process leading to Parkinson’s disease (PD) starts much earlier before motor symptoms emerge (bradikinesia, rigidity, resting tremor and postural instability). One of the earliest signs in the premorbid phase of PD is dysosmia, which is present in more than 60% of PD patients. In this study we used UPSIT University of Pennsylvania Smell Identification Test. We have tested patients with PD and theirs relatives. Results show that dysosmia is more frequent in PD patients compared to their relatives.
