The population ageing is one of the most important challenges facing the EU, including Slovenia. This demographic shift calls for action, especially because the recent research among Slovenian companies shows that the practice of age management is still in its early stages. Even though, the implications of population ageing are strongly seen at the company level, and some employers are already facing the shortages of labour force, the practice of age management is still rare and organisations mostly make little or no effort to retain their own older workers.

In EU pre-accession countries, such as Macedonia, youth and in particular young women unemployment is one of the highest in the Balkans. Through the project »Open Dialogue on Social inclusion through Youth Employment and Labour Youth Rights in Macedonia« programme group of the Faculty of Economics University of Ljubljana (FELU) is supporting the partners of the project Balkan Children and Youth Foundation and the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia with the expertise on the discussed topics.
