A kinetic one-dimensional model of a bounded plasma system was upgraded in order to include non-zero drif velocities into the distribution functions of the electrons. It turns out that even very small values of the drift velocities affect strongly the collector floating potential. For certain values of the parameters our model predicts triple valued floating potential of the collector. The predictions of our model are in excellent qualitative and to some extent also quantitative agreement with the experimental results reported approximately 10 years ago, but were not interpreted adequately.

COBISS.SI-ID: 6625876One of the researchers of our project group had in april 2008 at the University of Innsbruck, a series of 3 invited lectures on potential formation in complex plasmas that contain more than 2 species of charged particles. The emphasis was on plasmas that contain two species of positive ions. He was invited as a lecturer on a special plasma physics course intended for PhD students of plasma physics at the University of Innsbruck. Besides him other lecturers, also world's leading authorities in the field, were invited.
