The contribution includes an in depth analysis of the events surrounding the elections in the 1930s, and the author asks himself the following questions: how meaningful (if at all) are the results of the elections in the circumstances of that time? Did the elections have a political impact through a longer time perspective? The author establishes that on the basis of the elections it is possible to assess the amount of support, given to the individual political options by the electorate, and that the very result of otherwise non democratic elections had a political impact.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2337396King Alexander's dictatorship was an expression of the real political need for consolidation of the situation in the country; however, in its essence, it represented an autocratic and repressive regime whose influence could be felt in every sphere of life. The more decisive democratic-ideological moves did not even occur later, neither after Alexander’s assassination in Marseille in October 1934, nor after the replacement of his regime in June 1935. Political methods in internal political life followed the pattern from the first half of the 1930s even to the eve of the Second World War.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2510964The author focuses on the change of the political elites in Slovenia, taking place after World War II. He establishes that in the end of War a significant part of the pre war political elite left the Slovenian territory, and of three ideological camps in Slovenia only a part of the Marxist camp remained politically organised: the Communist Party, which took over the power. After 1945, the continuity with the pre war political elites was only represented by political emigration, and after 1990 this continuity has been pointed out by certain representatives of the so called "Spring" parties.
