In the presented paper a combination of leachate pre-treatment in CW has been used with its recirculation through underground irrigation system back to the closed part of the landfill site planted with grasses and willow trees. The growth of plants on the irrigated landfill cover was better compared to the surrounding vegetation, indicating that fast growing trees can contribute to removal of excess leachate volume and its parameters from the system.

COBISS.SI-ID: 23089113Different sorts of wastewaters rich with plant micro and macro nutrients are often being used worldwide for the irrigation or as a nutrient substitute. However, the contents of micro and macro elements are not necessarily in ideal proportion for the plant growth, dissolved solutes can have deteriorating effect on soil characteristics. The paper presents the effects of application of landfill leachate from municipal landfill site and wastewater from the production of compost on modification of soil salinity and capacity for water reception.
