Background of ecoremediations is described. Knowing the ecosystem's structure and function enables the use of complete ecosystem and single processes for preventive and curative measures to eliminate the consequences of human activities in the environment. Especially extreme ecosystems are adapted to many naturally and artificially caused changes namely with the development of special structural and functional adaptations on extreme ecological factors. With an up-to-date knowledge many of these processes appearing in natural ecosystems can be used in restoration of degraded areas.

The research in which we wanted to find out to which extend different pollutants can be eliminated from drinking water using constructed wetlands (CW) is presented. CW are ecoremediation approach that offers the solutions for the problematic of polluted drinking water in small water supply areas. Experiments were carried out on a pilot CW to which water from a local water well was piped. CW showed to be and efficient but not a 100% method for microbes, nitrates and pesticides removal and turbidity reduction.
