About 100 participants (foresters, nature conservation service, enterpreuners, government and non-governmental instistutions) took a field trip in Brežice, to discuss actual problems in beech management. Several study objects were prepared for sylvucultural issues. The economy of producing beechwood was also discussed.
F.01 Acquisition of new practical knowledge, information and skills
COBISS.SI-ID: 2175398An overview of development of beech stands in last decades was presented to public forest service and other related group of experts. We analysed developmental trends of beech forests, raised the question of inappropriate management in past decades, and showed the opportunities in sylviculture in beech forests.
F.18 Transfer of new know-how to direct users (seminars, fora, conferences)
COBISS.SI-ID: 2171558On the basis of growth and yield research in beech stands, we presented the concepts such as site productivity in terms of value (SPvalue), value increment, volume increment, exploitation of SPvalue, rotation period and regeneration period. The significance of current and mean annual value increment course for decision-making about starting stand regeneration is presented. Economic losses as a result of deferred or premature regeneration are shown in the caseof beech stands. The influence of interest rates on yields and culminationtimes of beech stands is also presented.
F.18 Transfer of new know-how to direct users (seminars, fora, conferences)
COBISS.SI-ID: 2141094The topic Characteristics of gap regeneration in dinaric beech-fir virgin forests was presented in an international conference The virgin forest ecosystems of the Dinaric karst and the nature-based forest management in Croatia.
