In observational study we investigated what happened in the first week of the treatment of depression in a group of 422 patients with depression from 60 public health centers in Slovenia. One quarter of patients reported adverse effects and 15% of these patients’ misinterpreted signs of depression and anxiety for adverse effects. These patients tend to be more anxious and more depressed at the beginning of treatment. Half of them could not accept the explanation of their misinterpretation. A total of 55% patients had additional questions about illness at the second visit.

In this paper we presented the study of relationship between behavioural approach (BAS) and inhibition (BIS) tendencies and emotional modulation of cognitive control in the group of healthy volunteers and bipolar outpatients (BMD). Healthy volunteers with greater BAS levels had demonstrated better emotional modulation of cognitive control. In contrast, we found in BMD group higher BAS and BIS levels and impaired cognitive control of emotional stimuli (less accuracy and longer reaction times).
