The paper presents a combined neural network configuration for sensor validation consisting of three different artificial neural network (ANN) models. The first model is configured for classification purposes the second model is based on an auto associative neural network (AANN)and the third for regression. The use of the three different ANN structures makes it possible to detect and isolate both low and high sensor drift and provide an accurate recovered value for a failing sensor. The methods were tested on a stationary single shaft gas turbine and a steam power plant, with good result.

COBISS.SI-ID: 10794011In the paper the extended numerical method is proposed that enables three dimensional simulations of flow and thermodynamic conditions within an air preheater as well as in the adjoining gas channels. Fluid dinamic and newly developed heat transfer models were combined and yield together flow and temperature conditions within the entire computational domain. Special attention was also focused to influence of leakage on flue gas parameters in the preheater.

COBISS.SI-ID: 10023195In the paper is presented how the dampers can be used for measuring and controlling of the combustion air flow for a coal-dust steam boiler, with sufficient accuracy. Usually the separate devices are used for measuring both. In large scale units such approach reduces investment costs and improves the reliability of the air flow control.

COBISS.SI-ID: 10299419Since 1993 besides domestic coals ecologically more acceptable imported coals are used for fuel in some of Slovene power plants. Since the boilers were not built for burning these coals tests for determining their adequacy need to be conducted prior to making a decision for long term use of the coal. This kind of tests and some more important criteria used for estimating the adequacy of the alternative coal are stated in the paper. With the exception of the above criteria, economic criteria must also be met.

COBISS.SI-ID: 10680859Some heat-and power-units are capable for producing heat and power in cogeneration mode or separately. Such units can therefore produce four products and to determine products costs for each of them, the fuel consumption must be allocated among them. In the paper is presented how the method of alternative units and equal savings, in according with Directive 2004/8/EC, can be used for this purpose.
