Successful preparation of low-doped varistor ceramics with excellent current-voltage characteristics for broad range of threshold voltages from 100V/mm to 300V/mm confirmed potential of IBs-induced grain-growth mechanism for tailoring microstructure and electrical characteristics of varistor ceramics. It enhanced our efforts to direct development of various types of varistors in VARSI Company toward low-doped varistor ceramics. It is especially interesting to develop overvoltage protection systems based on varistors for photovoltaic and wind-turbine electric power systems.
