Two new species of Copepoda are described in the article. Copepoda are common inhabitants of karstic caves and interstitial water. They are among the most important groups in gravel beds, both in biomass and number of species. In addition to detail description of both species, an extended information on their distribution, ecology and special adaptations for subterranenan mode of life are added.

Genus Elaphoidella, from a group of Harpacticoida, is in Slovenia one of the most rich in species. In the article is given a detail analysis of their appearance in different types of habitats, actually their connectivity with specific habitats. It appears that distribution of some species is wider comparing others, which are very specialised. Some taxa could be found only in gravel beds, while others are bound exclusively to karstic aquifers. Only a very limited number of species could be found in both types of aquifers - karstic and porous.
