In this article the history of Slovene periodicals in the USA from 1891 until early 1920s will be presented. Immigrant newspapers and other periodicals in general played an important role in keeping ethnic identities alive among American ethnic groups. They represented one of the most important expressions of the life of ethnic communities. History of ethnic periodicals in the USA mirrors the history of ethnic groups in the USA. There were ca. 100 titles printed. Some ceased publication after a few issues; some are still published today.

The treatise deals with Austrian-Slovene relations from the spring of 1990 until January 1992. It is based on original, with today undiscovered and un-researched archival and other documentaries; especially documents from Karel Smolle’s private archives and minute books of the Austrian Parliament from the beginnings of the 1990s. Smolle was then member of Austrian parliament. The treatise dealt also with internet connections between Carinthian and American Slovenes.
