The author focuses on »cultural« variables of fertility. She established that families from the same cultural and social environment differ in the number of children and in their reproduction history. This means that people from seemingly homogeneous social entities respond differently to social processes. Hence, studying fertility we should focuses on individual examples and not on social classes, because a social class is just an abstract idea formed on the basis of individual cases.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1585363The author, building on an analysis of registers of two culturally different research areas, notes that the methods and characteristics of records have a conceptual and methodological value.
