A reconstruction of production schemes and identification of environmental impact hot spots was performed expert-wise for four selected model european traditional food products (hard cooked cheese, dry-cured ham, beer and cauliflower). This preliminary hot spot identification was preformed specifically for a conceptual life cycle assessment (LCA) technique in prosecution. In our opinion, these results can also be employed as a basis for many other environmental impact assessment approaches. The results of LCA technique were presented to end-users in 47th International Fair AGRA, Gornja Radgona.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2539912The candidate has studied the possibility of use and of the influence of selected plant extracts on anaerobic bacteria from the digestive tract in pure cultures, and co- and tricultures archea and fungi, as well as in the mixed microbial population in flow reactor systems and microbial community samples from in vivo animal experiments. The effects of plant extracts were compared with the effects of well known feed antibiotic, the ionophore monensin, which has been banned in the EU since 1.1.2006. A combination of traditional microbiological and modern, molecular biology methods was used.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2370952The 5th International Symposium of Anaerobic Microbiology (ISAM) was organized at the Zootechnical Dept. of the Biotechnical Faculty of Univ. Ljubljana and was held in Domžale from 21st to 24th of June 2007. During the three symposia days 46 lectures were presented by scientist coming from 14 countris and selected contributions were published in Folia Microbiologica. Talks were divided into 5 sections: Biodiversity and Taxonomy of Anaerobic Bacteria; Genetics and Physiology of AB, Manipulation with Anaerobic Communities; Interactions of Anaerobes with the Host; and Eukaryotic Anaerobes.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1986952The compendium is intended to supplement the lectures from the subject Ecology and environmental protection in agriculture by theory and protocols for laboratory practicals. A set of physical, chemical and biological methods used for the determination of environmental quality (degre of pollution of soil, water and air) is presented. The principals of standard environmental methods are followed by protocols for the practical performance of selected methods from all 3 groups. Special attention among practicals is given the BMP method due to its actuality.
