The deformation capacity of reinforced concrete columns was determined in terms of the normalized force – deformation relationship with special consideration on yield, capping and ultimate drifts. The CAE method was applied. Five input parameters were defined and used in calculations. Among them the axial load index and the longitudinal reinforcement index exhibit substantial influence on all characteristic drifts. The index related to confinement increases the ultimate drift. Yield drift and ultimate drift first increase and then decrease with increasing shear span index.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3868257A simplified method for probabilistic seismic performance assessment of buildings was presented in the semi-plenary section of the conference by Professor Fajfar. First he summarized the theoretical background of the method and later he demonstrated the method by the two examples. We have shown that the probability of failure of frame with masonry infill is substantially less than that without infills.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3620961At the international conference, the project leader had a lecture in which he presented a method for prediction of the seismic response by consideration of the aletory and epistemic uncertainties. The method represents an extension of the incremental dynamic analysis. In addition to the set of ground motions, the method involves a set of structural models, which reflects the epistemic uncertainties, is introduced. This method serves as a basis for determining the dispersions in the seismic response, which is needed in estimation of seismic risk of buildings.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3817313Predictions of energy dissipation capacity and of the deterioration of deformation capacity due to cumulative damage have been made by means of a non-parametric empirical approach, using empirical data on RC columns. The energy capacity was expressed in three different normalized forms and the deterioration of deformation capacity was defined as the ratio of the cyclic to the monotonic ultimate drift. The observed trends are similar to those for the drift ratio, with the exception of the influence of the axial load index, where the trend is opposite. The dispersion of the results is high.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3626849The aim of this study was to define the design parameters for the seismic design of structures within NSRAO. Based on the knowledge that we have developed within the research project it was found that the ASCE 43-05 can be used as a basis for seismic design of those facilities within the repository NSRAO Vrbina, which are important for nuclear safety. Therefore it was suggested to use this standard as a basis for the seismic design of the structures within NSRAO related to nuclear safety.
