The paper presents the problems of vehicle crashes into safety barriers. Real-life situations of vehicles crashing have shown that a vehicle only seldom strikes a barrier under the conditions recommended by EN 1317 for testing the conformity of safety barriers. FEM were carried out by analysing the vehicle load and vehicle occupant load (cervical spine). Also determined were the reasons for insufficient vehicle stopping and wheel jamming. The proposed changes of the safety barrier structure may help descrease the severity of injuries to road users as well as the consequences thereof.

COBISS.SI-ID: 11087387A computer analysis of a traffic accident is regarded as a complex phenomenon where a human body is exposed to impact loads. Also presented is the application of injury criteria as well as the most significant aspects of human body modelling which may affect injury evaluation. The paper was presented to the international expert public representing the fields of engineering, medicine, law and insurance business all of which are either directly or indirectly involved in the analysis of traffic accidents and the effects they may have upon individuals, the society and the economy.

COBISS.SI-ID: 10004251The system for interactive 3D driving simulation incorporates the vehicle mechanical model, the database of vehicle data and a subsystem for display in virtual 3D environment. It can simulate wheeled vehicles with two to four axles on a driving surface, represented by a polygon mesh of an arbitrary shape. The simulation results can be written to output files in various text and image formats. The system can be directly connected to the system for human body load simulation, thus enabling the user to test and evaluate the influence on vehicle passengers during ride in different driving regimes.

COBISS.SI-ID: 10521627The lecture was held for numerous experts in medicine and rehabilitation who are directly involved in dealing with consequences of traffic accidents. The entire progress of work and the importance of police, medical and insurance documentation during the traffic accident analysis were presented. The attendants were provided with a detailed explanation of the injury criteria which represent a relation between the loads affecting the body of an injured person and the resulting injuries. An emphasis was placed on key factors in modelling of the human body which influence the simulation accuracy.

COBISS.SI-ID: 10393115We developed a system for determination and simulation of road-related factors that define the occurrence of traffic accidents. The hardware for measuring road section properties enables the measuring of the ride dynamics parameters and data storage. The software includes an interactive simulator of a wheeled vehicle ride, a display system, a database, feedback control modules and a module for simulation of the vehicle occupant impact response which includes a parametric human body model. Components of the entire system were verified by measurements on typical examples of traffic situations.
