We studied the presence and frequency of macrophytes on the river Krka. The most abundant species were Ceratophyllum demersum, Myriophyllum spicatum and Potamogeton filiformis. Based on the RDA analysis, species and sections on the river can be grouped in the three groups; a group of species that grow from the source to the central part of the river, a group of species that grow in a segment about Novo mesto and a group of species that grow in the segment from Novo mesto to the estuary. There is a clear link between the water flow speed and the type of sediment and the presence of the species.

The article analyses the results of long-term research on Copepoda (Crustacea) distribution in different environments with emphasis on groundwater habitats (caves, interstitial water) and springs in Slovenia. The distribution of copepod species in Slovenia was found to be related with the region, habitat type, altitude, conductivity and pH of the water. The results indicate that copepod species can be used as indicators to assess the effects of environmental stress.
