Meta Grosman's book “Literature in an Intercultural Position” and “A Defence of Reading: The Reader and Literature in the 21st Century” s(cf. 6) set themselves the primary twin goals of the research programme, researching interculturality, intercultural reception and the possiblity of mediating foreign language and domestic literature. Špela Virant's book “Redramatisierter Eros: zur Dramatik der 1990er Jahre” (“Redramatized Eros: On Drama of the 1990s”) thematizes the most topical theatre phenomenon in the German speaking realm and offers the conceptual apparatus and the paradigmatic treatment for other literature as well. The scientific work was published at a German press and fills a gap at the international level, while remaining applicable for research in Slovenia as well.

The book deals with the problem of the comic that can be defined only within a cultural context. The parameters of the comic change according to the diachronic as well as synchronic perspective of the established cultural norms. For the understanding of the comic intercultural competences are hence needed. The analysis shows that the comic narrative elements are integrated into the historical discourse and are not reduced to mere aesthetic effects. The presentation of history becomes ambiguous because of the ‘hybrid’ construction; it is scattered into many reflecting ‘voices’.

The book provides a carefully presented history of the origins of Carnolia, the first literary paper from Kranj and the first detailed life and work of its creator Leopold Kordeš. In the Pre-March period he was the editor of Laibacher Zeitung and Illyrisches Blatt and as such raised awareness in a number of articles of the new historical circumstances. In 1838 he already attempted, albeit unsuccessfully, to create a Slovenian political party as well as to found a Slovenian university in Ljubljana. He engaged himself to the creation of a Slovenian theatre, which was planned to be pan-Slovenian.

The proceedings, published in one of the most renowned German publishing houses, combine different aspects of Stefan Zweig's work from the point of view of the daemonic. Daemonic elements appear also as an interesting cultural and transcultural paradigm. Besides a phaenomenological approach some papers deal with the relation to history, to the other and the foreign, to love and passion. It is a publication that discovers new aspects of a partly emarginated author who has, however, had great impact on Slovenian readers after the war.
