Within the research on the influence of early graphic prints on style and motives of mural and panel painting in the late Middle Ages in Central Europe and Italy, and particularly in the territory of Slovenia, the most notable work is a monograph by J. Höfler on Master E.S., who is regarded as one of the most important innovators of the 15th C. graphic art; Höfler proves that his graphic prints had an exceptional influence on the painting and sculpture of the second half of the 15th C., re-evaluates his entire graphic oeuvre and its significance and reception in the 15th C. European art.

Research of the work of stonecutters and architects in the Adriatic Rim has resulted in many fascinating findings, articles and monographs, as well as one doctoral thesis. The most important achievement is the monograph on Palazzo Ducale in Urbino by J. Höfler, published in Regensburg and Urbino. Based on archival and literary sources, fieldwork and comparative research, the book features important new findings about the gradual building of the palace, the function of individual interiors, the role of the patron and the work of the architects and sculptors.

Special achievements include articles by S. Štefanac and his monograph on Niccolo di Giovanni Fiorentino, the first comprehensive overview of the sculptural oeuvre by this important Donatello's student. Among the numerous contributions on the Baroque period, to be mentioned is an article about the most important Venetian sculptor of the 1st half of the 18th C., A. Corradini, who also worked for the Austrian lands (court sculptor in Vienna). It presents important findings about his training and the iconography of his works, as well as new attributions.

M. Kemperl and M. Klemenčič have published several articles on the research of Baroque art; with a detailed study of the material in Slovenia and the neighbouring countries (northern Italy, Austria and in Croatia), they managed to place the explored material in the broader European context. The key achievement is the monograph on late baroque architecture by M. Kemperl. It features the first accurate description ana analysis of all late Baroque church buildings in Slovene Styria, as well as important findings about mid 18th century architects in the introduction.
