The original scientific paper co-authored by Krištof Oštir has been published in Remote Sensing of Environment, 2007, 108 (1), the most important journal in the field of remote sensing (1/14) and one of the most important journals in environmental studies in general. The article deals with lidar data filtering. The newly developed and published REIN algorithm produces a very accurate digital terrain model (DTM) in steep, forested areas. The paper has been cited five times in SCI publications.

The article uses archival documentation and the results of rapid ethnographic surveys to reconstruct the contact-era ethnography of the Lower Arafundi, one of the lesser-known groups in the Sepik Basin. The Lower Arafundi people were ethnographically significant as foragers of the tropical rainforest, as progenitors of a rock art tradition, and as one of a small circle of human societies that claim not to recognize paternity.

The objective of this paper is to discuss methods of producing digital terrain model (DTM) from different quality datasets. Two methods of integrating different datasets are described. The first one is based on the simultaneous interpolation of all useful spatial data sources, and is supported by a proper prediction function according to the weights. The second one – weighted sum of data with geomorphologic enhancement – sequentially combines individual datasets according to their weights and is maintained by geomorphologic enhancement.

The book including this article was published by one of the world’s leading publishing companies specialized in Islamic studies. The article presents issues concerning ritual purity, prayer, fasting and piety in the light of women’s experience. The most important innovative aspect of the article lies in that it presents the multilayered and diverse ways of conceiving and expressing piety among Muslim women in West Africa, who until recently were often neglected in scientific studies on Muslims in this part of the world.

This scientific monograph represents the first extensive and systematic work about remote sensing in Slovene language. The book discusses the elements involved in acquisition, processing and usage of satellite and airborne images. The properties of the imaging systems are described and the main part is devoted to image processing and interpretation. The book is intended to be used as a reference work by researchers and experts in different fields, as a textbook by students and teachers, and as a source of information about the latest technologies by the general public.
