The study examined how teachers accept their (changed) roles according to the goals of the curricular reform. The basic starting-point was conclusion that the teacher and his/her qualifications and viewpoints are the principal factors of a successful curricular reform. Curricular changes and innovations can only be successful if teachers and other pedagogical workers can understand, accept and apply them in their work. The authors stress the importance of quality teacher education at pre-service and in-service level as the pillar of effective school reform.

The article focuses on the changing model of the Slovenian national identity after the independence. It appears that the socialisation model based on the sentiment of belonging to a stateless nation experienced a profound change. The tradition of the “communitarian identity”, still very present for the most part of the 20th century, has been abandoned. The description of the emerging model of the Slovenian national identity, in which the identification with the state and its citizenship take precedence over the cultural tradition.

The monograph focuses on the theoretical fundamentals of metaanalysis in the study of educational phenomena. The main factors in the development of pedagogical methodology and the place of metaanalysis in the system of research methods and techniques are highlighted. The book provides new knowledge in three areas of empirical research integration. The procedures for the description, analysis and integration of primary research are developed, enabling new discoveries and generalisations based on procedures for the assessment of impact of particular primary studies.

The analysis of metaphors of otherness in European tradition shows that Enligthenment philosophy could not affirm otherness as one of central values, so this theoretical background of social sciences and politics leaded to different forms of exclusive practices. Among important achievements we have to emphasize the develoment of inductive pedagogical approach, using artistic experiences for deeper unerstanding of moral dilemmas, and development of the framework of complete educational concept of public school.
