The aim of the study was to establish relations between morphological factors and kinematic parameters of sprint running in elite athletes in the conditions of block acceleration and maximum speed. In this study, the new technology OptoJump was used for the first time, enabling a highly accurate registration of biomechanical parameters of the sprint stride in terms of support and flight phases and stride frequency and length. The results showed that the major generators of speed were the contact time and the stride frequency.

This scientific and research article deals with the investigation of potential competitive performance of elite athletes (in the concrete case, the study was based on a sample of cross-country skiers in three different competitive categories). For this purpose a MMPS universal reduced potential performance model was created, encompassing the motor, morphological, psychological and sociological sub-areas of the study subjects’ psychosomatic status.
