Professor Marko Jaklič is the coordinator of a three year European project that is in effect from 2006 to 2009. Beside Slovenia there are also Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway cooperating in the project. The purpose is to study how the Scandinavian model has been working in the last decade since it is known to have reformed the classic social state into an enabling welfare state. The group will in the end release two book publications with the most recognized international publishers and set up a new project called »Employee-driven Innovation and Work-place Learning.«

The international Portorož Business Conference combines academics as well as business areas and deals with important economic and social questions that affect economy globalization and specially the regions of Central and Southeastern Europe. The research group in accordance to its work programme puts a lot of attention to the research topic and connectivity with Slovenian firms.

It got good reviews. The potential impact of the article is in the modeling of relevant policies for stimulating R&D in developing countries. Among transition countries Slovenia is exposed and is gaining the recognition as one of the most developed and advanced transition countries.
