Strategies for prevention of depression are hindered by lack of evidence about the combined predictive effect of known risk factors. Objectives: To develop a risk algorithm for onset of major depression in cohort of adult general practice attendees followed up at 6 and 12 months. We measured 39 known risk factors to construct a risk model for onset of major depression. Conclusion: This is first risk algorithm for onset of major depression functions as well as similar risk algorithms for cardiovascular events and may be useful in prevention of depression.

In their original scientific paper, the authors establish a steep increase in the use of condom at first heterosexual intercourse, which means that at their first sexual intercourse the majority of people are already protected agains unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. The results show that in Slovenia we were successful in promoting a safer sexual behaviour, including the promotion of condom use, and may serve as a basis for further knowledge-based planning of sexually transmitted disease prevention and control in Slovenia.

The article describes the performed qualitative study - a Delphy study carried out with participation of four groups of experts: primary healthcare experts, paramedical experts, politicians, members of non-governmental organizations and the interested public javnosti. The study was aimed at establishing a community activity that would be acceptable and applicable in Slovenia in order to reduce alcohol abuse and the related consequence.
