EORTC is the biggest European, independent academic association in the field of clinical cancer research. Inclusion among base institutions and membership in the network of these institutions offers the members of our group and Slovenia as a whole, very good grounds for further fruithfull research work in the field of oncology both abroad and at home.

Chairing and membership in the programme committee for preparation of an international conference on breast cancer. The president of the programme committee prof. Marko Snoj and members of the committee prof. Tanja Čufer and prof. Iztok Takač, both members of the research group, researching predictive factors and treatment of breast cancer, put their efforts into including this important subject into the programme. The results of our work, obtained in the frame of our research programme were fully presented at this conference.

The head of the research group gave a lecture entitled: Individualized systemic treatment of breast cancer, at this highly important scientific European breast cancer conference. The conference was attended by approximately 5000 participants. In the frame of this invited lecture, the findings obtained by the research group were also presented.
B.04 Guest lecture
COBISS.SI-ID: 303995This position at one of the biggest universities in Belgium, the work of which is closely linked with clinical research in oncology, performed by the Institute Jules Bordet in Brussels, enabled the head of the research group as well as the group as a whole, to exchange knowledge with researchers from similar fields in Belgium and to plan further research collaborations. As a guest lecturer, the head of the group held lectures at University clinics in Brussels and Leuven in Belgium.

COBISS.SI-ID: 19736793In the chapter on research, Tanja Čufer and Richard Sullivan present an overview of the current conditions, advantages and disadvantages as well as a vision for the future for cancer research in Europe and wider. The publication, together with conclusions obtained at the conference at Brdo will surely improve conditions for research work in Europe and Slovenia and enable more and better achievements derived from EU cancer research.
