Comparison of the two culture media showed that MKP mediun supports the growth of Borrelia afzelii and Borrelia garinii but not Borrelia burgdorferi better than BSK medium, indicating that the usage of MKP medium is suitable for the usage in Europe.

COBISS.SI-ID: 22232793In persons vaccinated against tick-borne encephalitis the appearance of tick-borne encephalitis is extremely rare. Such patients represents a rather serious diagnostic challenge. Slovenian patients who developed tick borne encephalitis in spite of complete vaccination are described in the report, and diagnostic approaches that enabled the diagnosis of tick-borne encephalitis in persons vaccinated against the disease are presented.
