Preoperative anatomical localization of an intracranial pathological process and its relation to normal structures are very important for planning the operative procedure. Together with coalegues from neurosurgical and neuroradiological departments, we introduced into the clinical practice reconstruction of medical images into 3-D space with the aid of computer program 3D Slicer. This method of planning skin incision and skull trepanation was tested in 10 patients. The accuracy of the neurosurgical procedures was increased and their invasivness and risk were reduced.
F.17 Transfer of existing technologies, know-how, methods and procedures into practice
COBISS.SI-ID: 21927897The present invention belongs to the field of pharmaceutical industry and relates to a new method for the treatment of psychostimulant addiction, in particular cocaine addiction, with the compound known under the code LEK-8829. It is a novel method of treatment for reduction of craving and suppression of abstinence symptoms after cocaine withdrawal. In addition, the present invention also relates to the method for treatment of the addiction with amphetamine, methamphetamine, dextroamphetamine, 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine and pemoline.
F.32 International patent
COBISS.SI-ID: 1960305This is an achievment in the field of nanomaterials and was performed in collaboration with the National Institute of Chemistry. It represents a novel technical solution for simultaneous in vivo measurements of neurotransmitters in the brain with a potential for development of in vivo probes for medical application.
F.22 Improvement to existing health/diagnostic methods/procedures
COBISS.SI-ID: 3588378In collaboration with the medical staff at the Ljubljana University Clinical Center we developed and tested a method that measured tremor amplitude and frequency in a specific joint of the hand in Parkinson's disease patients. This new method reduces between-subjects and within-subject variability of hand tremor measurements and also locates the hand muscle groups that are. most active in tremor movement thus enabling their local treatment. This new tremor assessment method is now used at the Dept. of Neurology for evaluation of hand tremor in patients with Parkinson's disease.
